Anything that helps students improve their performance in school is great! I like the idea of using an iPhone for flashcards.

Thank you so much for this comment and I can understand the concerns - I had a very interesting visit to a school in Nagano in January where handwriting carefully was very much in evidence and one of the issues raised when the students were using iPads for reading, was the fact that they could not make notes or annotate by hand on the devices. So possibly handwriting recognition is needed as well as typed script for notes.

Yes Japanese has so many kanji characters and also the hiragana and katakana scripts to remember. It can be difficult to remember how to write some of the little used ones sometimes, and I think that with modern technology younger people are also loosing the art of writing them by hand. It is inevitable however, so we must make sure the computerised systems are accurate and complete. The idea shown above at the expo look very promising indeed.

I've just tested the Lexdis page with Chrome on the Mac & could get the tool bar immediately! Most impressed! (I've pointed numerous students to the old TechDis one in the past - so will now point them to here)

I've also just downloaded Dasher for the iPod - I'd seen it about a year ago on the Royal Institution Christmas lectures & was impressed then. Will be interested to see it on the Touch.
