Board Builder
A rapid-prototype modern web app to produce communication charts for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
BoardBuilder was a rapid-prototype Group Design Project developed by several MSc students. The objective was to produce a modern version of our previous PicBoard project, using symbols available from the Global Symbols repository.
The project was developed as a hybrid web app, allowing the same app to be used on both desktop and tablet platforms. As well as supporting a vast selection of symbols, this development allowed symbol boxes, text and borders to be coloured. AAC users frequently colour their charts to denote different parts of speech.
This work was used as the design basis for Global Symbols Board Builder, which further expands on the features.
